What is TOEFL Exam?
The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is a widely recognized English proficiency exam for students planning to study in English-speaking countries. TOEFL scores play a crucial role in the admissions process, helping universities evaluate a candidate’s English language skills. While some universities may waive TOEFL requirements, this depends entirely on the institution’s policies.
The TOEFL exam is conducted by ETS (Educational Testing Services), which manages the TOEFL iBT test, issues scorecards, and ensures a fair and reliable testing process for all candidates.
In response to the pandemic, ETS introduced the TOEFL iBT Home Edition, allowing students to take the exam safely from home. Additionally, ETS launched the TOEFL Essentials Test on August 21, 2021, offering a shorter, flexible, yet equally effective version of the exam. For students in India, ETS now accepts Aadhar Cards as a valid ID during registration.
Candidates can choose from multiple TOEFL test dates throughout the year and select test centers across major cities—or opt for the convenience of the home-based TOEFL iBT test. To succeed, students should familiarize themselves with the key TOEFL exam topics and prepare strategically to achieve their desired scores.
