Federal Skilled Worker Programs

The Federal Skilled Worker Program has now become an integral part of a new process of fast-track immigration which falls under the Express Entry System since January 1, 2015. All the applicants applying for the Federal Skilled Worker Program are required to assure they meet all the mandatory visa requirements, which includes having experience in various fields such as managerial department, skilled or semi-skilled services as well as meeting the passing mark to be eligible. How does the Federal Skilled Worker Immigration Program work?

A. Federal Skilled Worker

Eligibility Criteria Have at least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent paid work experience in the past 10 years in a skilled occupation (National Occupational Classification skill level 0, A or B); or

  • Qualify for Arranged Employment with a Labour Market Impact Assessment and a full-time, permanent job offer from a Canadian employer; and
  • Pass a minimum threshold of language ability in one of Canada’s two official languages, English/French.
  • In addition, Federal Skilled Worker applicants must obtain at least 67 points based on Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) immigration six selection factors.
B. Federal Skilled Trade Class

Under Federal Skilled Trades Class (FSTC) an individual with a job offer is allowed to work for any Canadian employer in certain occupations with a view to obtaining the Canadian Permanent Residency in any of the Canadian provinces other than Quebec.

Minimum requirements

To become eligible for the Federal Skilled Trade Program, you must;

  • Secure the required language test score for each of the following modules
  • Writing
  • Reading
  • Listening
  • Speaking
  • have a minimum of 2 years of full-time working experience or an equal amount of experience in part-time work is also accepted in a skilled trade in the last 5 years
  • Fulfil all the job requirements for that particular skilled trade
  • Possess
  • A valid full-time job offer from a Canadian employer for a period of a minimum of 1 year or
  • The qualification certificate of that specific skilled trade issued by any of the Canadian territorial, provincial, or federal authority
C. Canadian Experience Class

Temporary foreign workers can be eligible candidates who can apply for permanent residence in Canada. Once you gain work experience from a Canadian company, you can stay in Canada and get settled in Canadian society and establish some essential networks among the communities as well as make your careers bloom.

Canada Express Entry Canadian Experience Class applications, as the name suggests, can be processed via the Express Entry Program under the Canadian immigration process.
