Eligibility Criteria Have at least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent paid work experience in the past 10 years in a skilled occupation (National Occupational Classification skill level 0, A or B); or

  • Eligibility Criteria Have at least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent paid work experience in the past 10 years in a skilled occupation (National Occupational Classification skill level 0, A or B); or
  • Pass a minimum threshold of language ability in one of Canada’s two official languages, English/French.
  • In addition, Federal Skilled Worker applicants must obtain at least 67 points based on Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) immigration six selection factors.

Skilled Immigration Canada uses the factor selection points that help in assessing your eligibility.

  • After assessing your selection factors, you’ll be scored out of 100.
  • You may qualify if you score more than or equal to 67 points out of 100.
  • You can submit your profile if you fulfil the other requirements.

Top 6 Selection Factors

Your application will get assessed and selected only if you meet and fulfil all the necessary requirements of the below-mentioned factors:

  • Age
  • Education
  • Working experience
  • Adaptability
  • Command over English or French Language
  • If any Canadian employer offers you a job offer letter

All these factors together make a 100-point grid which is used to measure the eligibility for the program. Your points are calculated on the basis of how well you perform in each of the above mentioned 6 factors. The current passing mark is 67 out of 100 points.

Selection Factor Points

The selection factor points are used to know your eligibility for the Federal Skilled Worker Program.

Once you enter the Express Entry pool, a different system is used to rank your profile. Candidates securing the highest-rank among the pool will be invited to apply for the Canadian permanent residence.

Minimum Requirements

Skilled work experience

A person has Skilled work experience if he/she has worked in any one of the National Occupational Classification (NOC) from the following jobs:

  • Managerial jobs with skill type 0.
  • Professional jobs with skill level A
  • Technical jobs as well as skilled trades with skill level B

Applicant’s skilled work experience must be

  • In a similar job that of the one which you are going to apply for
  • Done within the last 10 years
  • Paid work (Includes work with salary or wages, volunteer work and unpaid internships are not included)
  • Minimum of 1 year of continuous work or a total of 1,560 hours (hours can be met in various ways:
  • Full-time job: 30 hours/week for 1 Year (1,560 hours)
  • Part-time job: 15 hours/week for 2 Years will make 1 year of a full-time job (1,560 hours)
  • More than 1 Full-time job: 30 hours/week for 1 Year (1,560 hours)
Student work experience

If you are a student and you get remuneration in terms of salary or wages for working certain hours a week continuously with no gap, and if you meet all the requirements, you may become eligible.

Language ability

To fulfil the Language eligibility criteria, you must:

  • take English or French approved language tests for:
  • Listening
  • Reading
  • Writing
  • Speaking
  • Score a minimum of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 in all 4 tests

Your language test score is valid for 2 years of your result date.

Education

If you’ve been to a Canadian school, you must possess a diploma, certificate, or a degree from

  • A Canadian High School or
  • A Canadian Post-secondary institution

If you are having a foreign education, then you must:

  • Have a completed credential,
  • Have an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) for the purpose of immigration issued from a popular organization declaring that your education is equal to a diploma, a certificate or degree pursued from a Canadian High school or Post-Secondary institution.
