Family Sponsorship
Canada values family reunification that’s why the Family Sponsorship Program allows Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their close relatives to live, study, and work in Canada as permanent residents.
If you are 18 years or older and meet the eligibility criteria, you can sponsor specific family members, helping them build a future in Canada.
Who Can Be Sponsored?
You can sponsor the following family members under the Family Class Immigration Program:
- Spouse or Common-Law Partner
- Conjugal Partner
- Dependent Child (biological or adopted, under 22 years old and unmarried)
- Parents and Grandparents
- Orphaned Relatives such as siblings, nieces, nephews, or grandchildren under 18, unmarried, and whose parents are deceased
The sponsored person must generally live outside Canada, unless they are legally staying in Canada on a study or work permit.
