The government of Canada invited 746 Express Entry candidates to apply for permanent residence today with a cut-off score of 720 CRS.
Invited candidates had previously received a nomination through a Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) and had added 600 points to their base CRS score.
Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) have only been holding PNP draws since last September.
IRCC has paused CEC invitations to catch up on its backlog which has reached 1.8 M.
The immigration department wants to cut Express Entry backlogs in half before inviting candidates from other programs.
