In latest update from Canada’s immigration minister Sean Fraser, Students’ deportation will be stopped.

Sean Fraser, the minister of immigration, declared today that he will use his "discretionary authority" to halt the deportation of innocent foreign students in the instance of the false offer letter.

He made it clear, though, that Canadian authorities would still deport any foreign students who knowingly participated in the fraud.

The Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (IRPA) grants the immigration minister "discretionary authority" to establish exceptions to current laws and regulations.
"I want to be clear that international students who are not found to have engaged in fraud will not be deported," Sean Fraser stated. I have discretionary power under the Immigration Refugee Protection Act, which I think I should use in the current situation.
For the international students who have been peacefully protesting their deportation at 6900 Airport Road in Mississauga since May 29, 2023, this is a significant victory.

The list of international students at risk of deportation due to fake offer letters or other paperwork will be compiled by CBSA and sent to IRCC.

The files of these international students will next be reviewed by senior IRCC officials, who will subsequently offer their observations.
The minister further stated that there are not 700 foreign students who might be deported for having forged documents.

According to the immigration minister, this bogus offer letter situation only affects a small number of overseas students.
