Canada IRCC Employes Strike 2023: Expect Delays in Processing.

Because of a possible IRCC strike this month, Canadian immigration applicants may face processing delays.

The Canadian government announced on their official website that groups of public servants "may" go on strike in mid-April 2023.

The Canadian government and the Public Service Alliance of Canada are currently negotiating collective bargaining agreements (PSAC).

The Union of Taxation Employees (UTE) and the Canada Revenue Agency are also in negotiations (CRA).

All of this adds up to approximately 155,000 workers who provide a variety of services to the general public in various departments.

PSAC's president set a deadline of 9 p.m. EST on April 18, 2023. He stated that if no agreement is reached by 9 p.m. EST tomorrow, April 18, 2023, a national general strike by all 155,000 CRA and Treasury Board members will begin at 12:01 a.m. EST Wednesday, April 19, 2023.

The president of PSAC did not name any other departments that would join the strike. However, our sources confirm that IRCC employees who are PSAC members will also participate in the strike if it occurs on April 19.

According to an official press release, the Canadian government remains committed to negotiating deals that are both affordable for taxpayers and fair to employees.

On April 16, the government tabled a three-year wage offer of 9% based on the Public Interest Commission's recommendations. According to the Canadian government, this is a fair and competitive offer.
